NRBC Bank PLC in collaboration with Bangladesh Bank, organized the "Bangla QR Fair 2026" in Chattogram under the slogan "One Country, One QR – Bangla QR for Every Transaction" to encourage cashless transactions and raise public awareness about the Bangla QR payment system. The fair was held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the premises of Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Office. Mr. Md. Hanif Miah, Executive Director and Head of Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Office, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, Managing Director & CEO of NRBC Bank, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Among the Special Guests were Mr. Swarup Kumar Chowdhury, Mr. Mahbubul Alam, and Ms. Yasmin Rahman Bula, Directors of Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Office; Md. Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury, Additional Director, Bangladesh Bank and Md. Shaheen Howlader, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Business Officer of NRBC Bank, Kazi Md. Safayet kabar, Head of Chattogram Zone with other senior officials. To mark the occasion, a colorful rally was organized from the Bangladesh Bank premises. The rally marched through major roads of Chattogram city before returning to the venue. At the fair, participating small merchants accepted payments through the Bangla QR platform at their respective stalls, demonstrating the convenience and effectiveness of digital payments. An interactive discussion session was also held, where distinguished guests and participating merchants shared their views and experiences regarding the adoption of Bangla QR. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Md. Hanif Miah, Executive Director and Head of Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Office, said, To build a truly cashless Bangladesh, the use of Bangla QR has been made mandatory nationwide as the 'One Country, One QR' started from July 1. Bangladesh Bank has introduced this unified digital payment system to make transactions simpler, safer, and more efficient. Customers can now make payments through Bangla QR using the mobile applications of any bank or mobile financial service provider. From small neighborhood shops to large shopping malls, Bangla QR is now operational across the country. Speaking at the event, Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, Managing Director & CEO of NRBC Bank, stated, A cashless ecosystem is not merely about modernizing the payment system; it is the foundation of financial inclusion, good governance, transparency, and accountability. The introduction of Bangla QR has made transactions easier, more transparent, and more secure.
