NRBC Bank PLC held its Barishal Zone Town Hall Meeting 2026 on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Barishal Club. The meeting was graced by the Chairman of the Bank, Md. Ali Hossain Prodhania, as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by the Managing Director & CEO Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA. The Special Guests included Chairman of the Risk Management Committee Md. Nurul Haque; Chairman of the Audit Committee Muhammad Emdad Ullah, FCA, FCMA, CPA, Independent Directors Md. Abul Bashar and Md. Anwar Hossain and Deputy Managing Director & Chief Business Officer Md. Shaheen Howlader. The meeting was attended by Md. Abdul Halim, Head of Khulna and Barishal Zones, along with branch managers, sub-branch managers, and officials from all branches and sub-branches across the Barishal region. Addressing the gathering, Chairman Md. Ali Hossain Prodhania said that the Board of Directors is working relentlessly to establish good governance, transparency, and accountability across the Bank. To ensure discipline and accountability in all operations, the Bank has undertaken the necessary forensic audit initiatives. He emphasized that ensuring good governance, transparency, and accountability at every level is essential for building a sustainable financial institution. He further stated that, as a fourth-generation bank, NRBC Bank currently ranks among the leading banks in several key performance indicators. In particular, the Bank has achieved consistent growth in performing assets, operating income, and operating profit. However, considering its immense potential, the Bank has significant opportunities for further growth. He stressed the importance of expanding loan disbursement, strengthening loan recovery efforts, and scaling up microfinance activities. He also underscored the need to promote Bangla QR, digital banking services particularly the newly introduced e-loan facilities and remittance services. Managing Director & CEO Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA said that the branches and sub-branches in the Barishal region have significant potential to increase non-interest-bearing and low-cost deposits. He urged the officials to capitalize on this opportunity by strengthening the Bank’s retail and small deposit base. He also emphasized ensuring the recovery of non-performing loans to enhance the Bank’s profitability. He further noted that the Government has undertaken various initiatives to build a cashless economy. As part of the “One Nation, One QR” initiative, Bangla QR has become mandatory from July 1. He called upon the officials to contribute actively to building a cashless Bangladesh by providing NRBC Bank’s Bangla QR service to even the smallest roadside tea stalls and other small businesses.
